This review is overdue, but I’m glad I waited, as we now have two kiddos under Dr. Spencer’s orthodontic care at Up North Orthodontics.
I was so impressed from the very beginning when our oldest started her journey nearly two years ago. Her initial consult left a lasting impression, the team was incredibly welcoming, the process felt seamless and well-organized, and the entire experience was both professional and genuinely warm.
I especially appreciated Dr. Spencer’s conservative approach. Rather than rushing into treatment, he recommended we give her body time to do some of its natural developmental work first. That level of patience and trust in biology meant a lot to me. We began her treatment about a year after that first visit, and now six months in, we couldn’t be happier with her care and progress.
More recently, we brought another one of our kiddos in, she has a more complex health history, including some airway challenges, and is quite a bit younger. Navigating her care can feel a bit more layered, but Dr. Spencer has been nothing short of accommodating, insightful, and encouraging every step of the way. It has truly been a breath of fresh air.
As a parent who has had to navigate the medical world quite a bit, I carry a bit of that stress with me, but working with Dr. Spencer and his entire team has been such a positive, reassuring experience. We feel grateful to be in their care and would highly recommend Up North Orthodontics to any family.

We really love Dr. Spencer and everyone at Up North Orthodontics! Two of my children have gone completely through their orthodontic treatment with Dr. Spencer. Next month, my third kid will have his braces put on. I wouldn’t even think of going anywhere else. My oldest daughter was his patient when he first opened his clinic and we have been there ever since. Our family has always been treated with kindness, professionalism, and the environment is very comfortable. I highly recommend Dr. Spencer!

We’ve had such a great experience with Up North Orthodontics. The team is professional, efficient, and easy to work with. Dr. Crouch is straightforward in a way I really appreciate: approachable, clear, and great at explaining what’s happening, what’s next, and the overall plan.

What a refreshing experience to walk in and be greeted right away with “Hello! We’re so glad you’re here!” They treat you like family from start to finish. Dr. Crouch was absolutely amazing. He is so patient, explained everything to myself and my son tooth by tooth with no pressure to make a decision right away about suggested care. All of the staff were so friendly, smiled, and genuinely care for their patients. Thank you for providing such great professional service for what can be sometimes a not so fun thing for a child to go thru. You guys truly understand what it means to be in this profession. You nailed it!

Really nice space with lots of natural light and all staff were great with kids! Dr. Spencer was fantastic with my daughter and explained everything thoroughly in a way that made sense!

We were on vacation at Crystal Mountian Ski Resort. While here my 9 year old son experienced an infection in the roof of his mouth above his newly placed expander. Our Cincinnati Orthodontist asked me to find an orthodontist in Traverse City to have it removed immediately. I called Up North Orthodontist in Traverse City and from the time they answered the phone to make an appointment and until we left their care was fantastic. Hannah was able to get us in the same day. They took pictures to send to his Cincy Orthodontist and based on the infection Dr. Spencer removed the device without causing pain to my son. Their care was exceptional, professional and was such a relief to have great care away from home.
Thank you Hannah and Dr. Spencer for your time, care, kindness and helpfulness. My son was able to start healing, feeling better and finished up a great week skiing!

The staff are all friendly and welcoming. Dr Spencer and his assistant were very thorough and provided a comprehensive care plan with multiple treatment options and provided detailed breakdown of the costs so we could make an informed decision. I would recommend them to anyone who needs orthodontic care

Dr. Spencer and his team are excellent! My youngest had a few issues and needed adjustments which the office ALWAYS fit us in right away. We have completed an expander and braces procedure and the results have been amazing!

We brought our 8 year old son in for a consult. It was a beautiful office with very welcoming, friendly staff. He didn’t need any work at this time and they recommended waiting a couple years. I was grateful for the thorough assessment, honest feedback, and that they didn’t recommend any unnecessary treatment. We’ll definitely be going back in the future!

During my very first appointment to see if braces was a good fit for me, Dr.Spencer was honest the entire time he explained what will happen throughout my braces journey. Each appointment i had up till I got my braces removed the staff was kind and even explained how to wear my bands, how to properly clean my braces and even recommended things to help and went step by step on what they will be doing when I got my braces removed. Overall they are very nice and helpful.
